At The Vanguard School, students are taught to increase their computer literacy and become prepared for a technology driven world. Computers are available in each of Vanguard’s classrooms in addition to curriculum that is covered in computer classes.
Lower School students use MAC computers with educational programs and Microsoft applications in order to learn practical computer skills and supplement lessons taught in their regular classrooms. Students will learn how to log on and off the computer, use the educational programs independently. Older students are taught to follow directions and basic skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint The Middle School has added a MAC laptop cart this year, which holds ten computers and is rotated between classes. Students in Upper School are taught technical fundamentals of computer use that include researching information, making appropriate ethical choices, and using applications to make reports, spreadsheets and presentations. Students are also taught how to make a resume and search online for jobs they are qualified for. The Upper School also currently has five InterWrite Boards installed for instructional use in the traditional classroom setting. The whiteboards enable students to remain engaged with interactive and dynamic lessons.
