Clinical Services: Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy focuses on facilitating the child's optimal performance in his or her educational program from primary school up to and including post-graduate. Individualized treatment is activity-based and focuses on those occupations that are important for students within the school environment. These occupations include establishing and maintaining friendships, participating in academic and special subject areas, as well as managing classroom tasks and work roles. The overall goal of O.T. is to improve sensory, motor, and social skills as a foundation for successful school performance. Occupational Therapy treatment is provided individually and in small or classroom groups, in our state-of-the-art clinic, the classroom and during on-campus jobs. Occupational Therapy also supports our Community Based Vocational Training program by working with High School students at their various job sites within the community. Goal planning is accomplished during consult sessions where the IEP team works cooperatively to generate individualized goals that are based on each student’s educational program.
