The Vanguard School nursing staff includes Catherine (Kate) Reilly who works in the Lower School and Marion Byrnes who works in the Middle/High School. Nurse Reilly is a Certified School Nurse with her Master’s in Nursing. Marion Byrnes has a BSN from Neuman College with 30 years nursing experience. Below in PDF format are in formation and forms that will explain policies and procedures for health care at Vanguard. Please download these forms and print them out for your use.
Vanguard requests that if at all possible, all prescription and non-prescription medication required by your child be administered at home. When this is not possible, download and complete Form A: Authorization for Administration of Prescription Medication at School. Both the physician and parent need to complete the form for the medication to be given at school. If medication, dosage or times change during the school year, you must inform the school nurse. Please send the authorization form and medication in the enclosed envelope prior to or on the first day of school. If there are any changes in your child’s health during the year, please inform us as soon as possible. We request that you send us copies of any health related evaluations so we can maintain current health records.
Pennsylvania School Health Law requires periodic medical, dental and scoliosis examinations as well as immunization updates and TB screenings. These should be completed by your family doctor or dentist. If these examinations are needed this year, please return the completed forms by October 4th.
Thank you for your cooperation in these very important health matters. If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to these matters, please contact the school nurses at ext. 270 for the Lower School or ext. 208 for the Middle and Upper School. Have a great remainder of the summer and we’ll see you in the fall.
