Staff Development

Philosophy

The Vanguard School endorses The National Staff Development Council’s purpose: to ensure every educator engages in effective professional learning every day so every student achieves. Our team will provide targeted staff development that supports a quality teacher in every classroom, a quality administrator in every school, informed instructional and non-instructional personnel, and parents.

What is Staff Development?

Staff development is the means by which educators acquire or enhance the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs necessary to create high levels of learning for all students.

What are the Standards for Staff Development?

Standards for Staff Development indicate that sustained, intellectually rigorous staff development is essential for everyone who affects student learning. The Standards provide direction for designing a professional development experience that ensures educators acquire quality knowledge and skills in results-driven, job-embedded practice.
