The majority of employment opportunities at Vanguard are full-time, 10-month positions beginning in late August and continuing through mid-June. Full-time, 10-month staff members are eligible to participate in all of The Vanguard School’s benefit programs. Summer employment opportunities are available during a 6-week Extended School Year ("ESY") program.

The 2008-09 school year will begin with staff in-service training on August 26, 27, & 28, 2008. New hire orientation will be conducted on August 21 & 22, 2008. Work hours for 10-month staff are 8:10 am to 3:25 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; 8:10 am to 4:00 pm on Wednesday; and 8:10 am to 3:10 pm on Friday.

Assistant Principal
We seek an organized, inspired leader to assist the Principal in all areas of the Middle & High School programs. Requirements include: PA Supervisory and/or Principal’s Certification and a minimum of 3-5 years recent teaching experience, preferably in Special Education. Previous applicable administrative experience is desirable as well as a strong understanding of the nature and needs of children with special needs.
Educational Administrative Assistant
Schedule is 5 days per week working 8:15am to 4:00pm with full benefits. We seek an Administrative Assistant to work with our Guidance Counselors providing clerical support. This individual will also work with the Behavior Support Specialists in the collection of data and helping the Assistant Principals with PSSA testing. Requirements include strong computer skills, organizational and communication skills. Prior experience in a school setting is a plus!
Food Service Assistant
Schedule is 10:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday. We seek an individual to assist with lunch preparation & cleaning. Prior food service experience preferred. Prior experience working in a school setting with students with autism, developmental delays, neurological impairments, and/or emotional disorders is a plus!
School Psychologist
A responsible, caring psychologist with experience working with students ages 5-14, with learning differences. An understanding of how students learn is essential! Responsibilities will include participation in admissions interviews, performing student assessments, developing learning profiles, and coordination of transition process. PA Department of Education certification as a School Psychologist is required. A Master’s degree in school, clinical, or counseling psychology is required. A Minimum of three years experience working with special education is essential.
Administrative Assistant
Work hours are 8:15am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. An exciting opportunity for an organized, experienced administrative assistant to join a dedicated team that manages and supports two schools serving over 300 students with special needs. This position will provide regular administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and will assist the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Ancillary Services as needed.
Custodial Supervisor
Work hours are 3pm to 11pm, Monday through Friday (no weekend hours). Working Supervisor to head a small custodial staff. Will also assist with general maintenance tasks such as moving furniture, setting up for special events, sweeping sidewalks, and snow removal. Must be professional, creative & have strong communication skills. This is a full-time position with full benefits including paid health insurance coverage, paid sick time, and paid vacation.
Technology Specialist
Work hours are 8:15am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. This is an entry-level help desk postion reporting to the Director of Technology. The Technology Specialist will install, support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems pertaining to all Windows and Macintosh computers on the school campus. Additional duties include supporting the technical needs of staff and students, coordinating the use of A/V equipment by the staff, and maintaining the telephone system.
